How exactly do Mana Cost Multipliers stack? I cannot find this anywhere on the wiki. (Yes, I know they are multiplicative. I'm just saying this should be on the wiki. Perhaps added by someone with time and better math skills than I. =P)--FaceLicker (talk) 09:09, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Yep. The questions is where exactly do we want this stuff to be displayed? Should it be linked back from every support gem page? Iamacyborg (talk) 09:57, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Need to add "Curse on Hit" to list[]

I noticed it's missing, but am too tired to add it right now, and won't remember in the morning Monkeyfetus (talk) 09:45, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Id syntax[]

How do you obtain the proper Id syntax for adding an entry to this page? Ex: {id|b|L}? Does the id tag somehow determine the color and type of gem icon shown beside each support gem listed on this page? I added a new support gem "Innervate" following the template for the others as best I could, but it showed up in the list with a white skill gem icon, instead of a colored support gem icon. Darkfyre (talk) 18:44, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

The skill needs to be added to Template:Sl, the white gem is used as a fallback when a new gem hasn't been added to the template yet. Iamacyborg (talk) 16:51, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
Thank you :) Darkfyre (talk) 18:44, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
Sorry, that was a premature thank you. I went to the page you linked, but I still can't figure out how to actually add the skill to the template sl Darkfyre (talk) 18:52, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
Take a look at the edit I just made to the template. Innervate Support inventory iconInnervate SupportInnervate SupportLightning, Support, Duration

now works as it should. Iamacyborg (talk) 20:35, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

"Exact Gem Mechanics" column[]

Recently Fhnhf added an additional column to the table that lists all of the effects of each support gem. In my opinion this makes the table really unwieldy since there's just so much text. I would think the description column is more than enough for the purposes of this table to remind the reader what each gem is. Can we agree to remove the new column? —Vini (t|c) 18:05, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

I added the new mechnics column because the basic descriptions werent enabling a quick look at multipliers such as more or increased. This necessitated clicking into each gems link to see if you could combine them for the effect you were looking for rather than a simple ctrl+f for multipliers. I think the basic description is less useful than the mechanical description for quick overview purposes.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fhnhf (talkcontribs) 21:32, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Really, the description column wasn't much use as it was when it gives identical (and basically wrong) descriptions for say added fire damage and added cold damage. But some of the exact gem mechanics are unnecessarily detailed and wordy. I think what is needed is brief descriptions which actually say what the gem does, including using words like "more" when needed. Look at minion speed as an example:
  • Current description:
Increases minions' movement speed.
  • Exact:
  • Minions have x% increased Movement Speed
  • Minions have x% increased Attack Speed
  • Minions have x% increased Cast Speed
  • Should be:
Increases minions' movement, attack, and cast speed.

I'm all for that. —Vini (t|c) 06:27, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
I've updated the descriptions to try and cover all the needed info, see what you think but I think I wasn't consistent on tense/voice. I wonder if the words more and less should be bolded? --Qetuth-(talk) 06:53, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

Article name change[]

I don't know why this article was renamed to from Support gem to Support skill gem. These have always been referred to as support gems by GGG and the community. I don't believe the name change was ever discussed, so I'd like to change it back. —Vini (t|c) 09:33, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

The item class is called "Support Skill Gems", I've moved it here for consistency since that the full name of the item class (well, in singular anyway). Probably didn't matter as much back then, but for things like item filters, editing the item v2 template or making smw queries here on item the item class matters where as the short hand of "support gem" won't be useful. In any case Support gem redirects the page here so I don't see a big problem for people looking for "support gem".
Edit: Now that I think about it, it may actually be best to generally move pages to their exact item class plural equivalent instead of a lower case version. --OmegaK2 (t|c) 18:22, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
Actually it now need clarification in the article that the +x level of y (gem tag) skill mods from amulet are not for y (gem tag) support skill. Yet another bad wording by GGG. Neokowloon (talk) 23:56, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Mana multiplier column is broken[]

Subj. How to fix? UPD: I hope i fixed it. Please check for errors - this is my first edit...

Number of gems[]

ok, the article seem need a counter for how many support gems in-game, or excluding awakened variants. Neokowloon (talk) 04:05, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

May be these code will work

142 (135)
35 (35)
177 (170)

Neokowloon (talk) 04:07, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

Ok, the counter raise another question. In Forbidden Shako inventory iconForbidden ShakoForbidden Shako

only counts 131 gems in the mod and presumably exclude Empower, Enhance and Enlighten Support. So, the above Template:Query skill gems/count count 135, did it count Item Quantity Support inventory iconItem Quantity SupportItem Quantity SupportSupport

Item Quantity Support inventory icon
? (Look at the code of the template it seem did not count)
And in Category:Support Skill Gems, there are 172 articles. Excluding Support Skill Gems, there are 171 gems article. So, which one is the odd one in the category comparing to the counter, as well as in the case of Forbidden Shako? Neokowloon (talk) 04:40, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
