Character Class List

Just a thought; might there not be a better scheme for sorting the character classes than alphabetical? I was thinking something like this:

Templar Witch (blank for Dex/Int)
Marauder Duelist Ranger

This matches the layout of the (v0.9.2) passive tree, and makes them related by their shared stat-focuses.
DragoonWraithTalk • 14:05, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

That makes sense, I plan on revamping the main page anyway, but that layout suggestion seems like a good one. Iamacyborg 14:32, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Question about access limitations

Hello! Is there a possibility to give me administrator rights for the german part? I have changed some names there back into original english (and think I will keep this straight), with additional german explanations. Since it seems to be better for upkeep, I also changed the link names for this (else would mean to have all links to make with a different showing name than the real one). But this leads into doubling all affected, existing sites - even if made empty, they'll be referenced. And, deleting them is only possible for admins... Would be good to could make it clean, status can be changed when finished. TIA, Mrcee.

Looking into it, current setup is a pain so I'm just working out what'd be the best way to do things! Iamacyborg 11:34, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Color/Style

Please do not make any drastic changes to the layout/style of the main page without talking to an admin about it first (especially color). Thanks a lot! ~Silva

What exactly didn't you like about the changes? Ionface 04:12, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
I am with Silva, I tried to convert the dark style of the main page to the german main, but reverted back - it had too much problems with different visibilities (mainly: the dark blue links to pages you have already accessed) and the differences between links, empty links and non-links in headlines dont look(ed) consistent. ~Mrcee
My point was, you don't just revert edits with no reason, and he reverted more than just the colors, see above discussion on that change. The reason I changed the background color is that all the pictures have a black background, and that looks absolutely horrible. As izzalion put on May 31, 2012 7:54 PM, "We desperately need a wiki that has an active administrator. This current one is being hit with spam quite heavily and is, er, pretty ugly." I take that to mean it's, er, pretty ugly. Ionface 12:03, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
I don't know if flat black is really the way to go, considering the generic wiki link colors of red/blue. If it's possible to change them, it might be viable. It might be better to do a very dark color instead so that it'll be easier to read but will still have that Exile flavor. Plus, if possible, the admin should probably do it so that everything matches, including the navbars. --Aezlo 19:23, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────It's trivial to change colors of links, but all of this is temporary until someone can add the site-wide style sheets. I hope we weren't all planning on having default white forever. I just copied the colorscheme from the official site for this section containing the black-backgrounded pictures, and I think it looks good. Tell me this looks worse than the current revision. Page is now semi-protected, new editors must become autoconfirmed before they can make changes. Ionface 23:25, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
This isn't completely related to the color of the front page, but I've long been curious what the "Consumables" link is going to be on the main page under "Other"? I thought it might be Orbs, but not we've got that under Currency, so what exactly is that for? Also, should I start point links to 'Orbs' to Currency? --Aezlo 22:42, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
You'd have to ask iamacyborg about that. I haven't touched the main page as it is currently, and I have a different hierarchy in my head which I have yet to solidify on the site. I believe you've discovered that skills can fit into a number of useful categories at the same time, but the main categorization will have a navbar and will guide the flow of information. Ionface 06:23, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
That link can safely be removed I'd say, seems to be a conflict with flasks that I didn't pick up on. Iamacyborg 08:41, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Another off-link I just noticed while I was playing with the passives is Clubs, considering they're currently called Maces. Do we wish to change that as well? Also, we may wish to move Shields under Weapons, Remove Scepters/Combine them with Maces, and Rename Passive Skills, considering some people get rather pedantic about them not actually being skills but simply Passives. I don't know what you'd prefer to rename them to, if you even wish to rename Passive Skills. --Aezlo 05:28, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

can somebody (with permission) finally "set $wgLogo to the URL path" of a POE Icon? (and this, prefered in a way it works to other language's mainpages too...)

Looking into it, possible going to have to have another think about the way other language pages work as the current system is a huge pain to maintain. Iamacyborg 11:31, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Migration to VPS

Hi Everyone,I'm looking at different VPS' to migrate the site to. It's currently sitting on a shared host system and as traffic picks up, and it is picking up, things are likely to slow down. Now's a great time to move over to something more stable that can support the site as it grows. I'm looking at what's available and I'll keep you all updated with any possible changes that'll happen. Iamacyborg 11:34, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Captcha

Have added a very basic captcha for now to hopefully help with some of the spambot problems. Will upgrade it to something a little more robust when I migrate the site to a VPS and upgrade the base Mediawiki install. Iamacyborg 14:23, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

new main site 'layout'

hello guys,

is it intended to have the news section cut that small? looks soemhow crappy to me and I dont see a benefit for the character classes part. --Mr.Cee (talk) 11:10, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

investigated: solved when the "width=100%" command is removed from the first line of the "The World" section (see german main site for reference) --Mr.Cee (talk) 11:34, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Feel free to fix! Definitely looks crappy like that. We can also come up with a new layout if anyone's got ideas. Iamacyborg (talk) 15:27, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
Just loaded up Google Chrome and I see what you mean. as I don't use Google Chrome regularly I had no idea it was like this. Looks great on Opera. I'll fix it up in all browsers Danny (talk) 16:17, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

didnt made any changes by cause of that 'partial write-protected' message ;) looks fine again now! (use chrome based Iron as browser at my workplace, and for the poe_plus extension of njs50) --Mr.Cee (talk) 08:34, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Adding last Act 2 maps

Act 3 is coming soon, so I'm adding the last maps that are missing, but I need someone to add the difficulty for merciless because I don't have it. I'll leave the links here for the pages that are missing levels --7Soul (talk) 22:58, 3 August 2012 (UTC) Dread Thicket Pools and Streams The Western Forest Dark Forest
